Summer of 2007 is coming to an end

Paradise Valley Orchard

We are starting to take appointments for custom apple pressing. The press will typically be running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. As always there is a ten bushel minimum; that will yield about 30-40 gallons of cider, depending on how juicy your apples are.

We have also starting taking pre-orders for our specialty cider blends:
Thanksgiving Blend – available the Monday before Thanksgiving
Christmas Blend – available the Monday before Christmas
Hard Cider Blend – available mid October

The pumpkin patch has really taken off. Come pick your own pumpkin before Halloween.

Springtime in Paradise

We planted 30 trees this spring, Gravenstien, Macoun, and Sweet 16. Look for them to start producing in three to five years.

We've had a warm dry spring; the trees are blossoming a bit early. Maybe too early? Yesterday it rained and snowed most of the day. If it gets too cold for too long we'll lose part of the crop, only time will tell.

The chickens are loving the warmer weather. They are laying up to a dozen eggs per day. The new hens are still giving the older hens their space but they are starting to venture out of the hen pen and scratch for bugs and seeds.
